The research group TIC 146 Supercomputación-Algoritmos (SAL) was created in 1992 and it is interested in developing High Performance Computing software and tools to address a wide variety of problems/applications coming from several fields of science and technology. SAL activity is mainly focussed on the following lines:
High Performance Computing
Global and Multiobjective Optimization
Image Processing
Image and video codification, compression and transmission
Secure communication protocols for Internet
SAL has a multidisciplinary character with strong cooperation among researchers with different background coming from multiples disciplines (Informatics, mathematics, physics, communications engineering, etc).
SAL (TIC 146) has been recognized by Junta de Andalucia as a consolidated research group.
Since 2010 the research group consists of researchers from University of Almería and University of Málaga. At national level, SAL is actively cooperating with researchers from Centro Nacional de Biotecnologia-CSIC, Universidad de Extremadura, Universidad de Murcia, Universidad Complutense, Universidad Jaume I, Universidad de Zaragoza, Universidad Católica de Murcia, Universidad de Granada. At international level, the group maintains cooperation with several researchers of several European universities.
